Culture Champions,
As you know, for ten years I’ve been creating emotional intimacy and camaraderie in a variety of workplaces. I’m now also in the creation of a project to create emotional intimacy in public places – I’m creating the place and the space to remember our shared humanity.
There’s one critical piece of the project I’m working on right now and as someone who is part of my tribe, I really value your input.
Imagine a public bench in the shape of a question mark (see our current napkin sketch.) On that bench is one question that both an 8-year-old and 80-year-old can easily ask and answer. It’s a question you would be curious to know the answer from anyone. It’s short and it has the potential to lead to deeper discussion.
So far – here are the five frontrunners:
- What brings you joy?
- What did you discover today?
- What inspires you?
- What’s important to you?
- What makes you feel loved?
What Are Your Thoughts?
(Culture Tip – for all of you who have participated in my “speed dating” activity, here’s a new set of questions to try on with your team)
PS – If you’re interested in learning more or playing on my team around this project – reach out to me directly at [email protected]. We’re getting companies, cities, celebrities, campuses, media, libraries and sister organizations involved. We’re in full-on creationary mode. All that’s known is we’re launching a national conversation challenge (think ice bucket challenge) the third week in May of 2020 and that by the end of 2020, 1000 of these benches are out in the world. (Also looks like we have a manufacturer for the bench who can create a portion of the bench from recycled ocean plastic!)
