Implement This Easy Healthy Culture Habit

Today (April 26th) is the 116th day of the year.

16.5 work weeks have been completed. On average, 660 hours have been worked by each of your team members. What do you have to show for it? What successes can you name? Milestones have you reached? Forward progress on initiatives and goals?

These days we let time fly by without pausing to celebrate the results of our hard work and gird up for the next round. We just go and go and go and well, go. Some days being more thoughtful and intentional than others.

Can you find 30 minutes with your team this Friday? Or next Monday, May 1st?

I ask, because here’s a beautiful habit to put in place with your team:

Every month measure progress, celebrate success and describe the future.

At the end of each month take 30 minutes with your team and write down the successes you’ve accomplished. Measure how far you all have come towards your team’s quarterly goals and annual goals.

Then forward vision the top three goals (plus a fun one) to be accomplished at the end of the upcoming month. “It’s May 31st and we have beta tested the new software; we’ve hired two new developers; we’ve resolved the bug on the current software; and we all enjoyed the long Memorial Day weekend.”

You have 35.5 weeks left in the year and another 1420 hours of human contribution from each team member.

Go get ‘em tiger!
