Disheartened. That’s how I was feeling a few weeks ago when I heard two friends dig in their heels and GO AT IT. There was no love, no generosity, just pure righteousness, frustration and commitment. Commitment to their values and their beliefs - that led them to feel more divided than ever.
It left me feeling disheartened in a way I haven’t felt before. This encounter left me asking, as fellow Americans where is our acknowledgement of our shared humanity?
The polarized atmosphere is impacting friends, families and workplaces. I’ve had leaders and managers reach out and share the eggshell environment they’re trying to navigate. This polarizing elephant lurks - undermining trust, camaraderie and collaboration. Tension is palpable.
My commitment is to generate and increase the experience of our shared humanity and focus on our common ground. One of the things I’ve done is plan a unifying experience, “Spark in the Park”. It’s a 1-hour free pop-up event happening Saturday, August 18th from 7:00-8:00pm at Confluence Park in downtown Denver. Come join us! (Here’s a shareable flyer with more information.)
